I have completed my undergraduate studies in the department of Biology of Aristotle university in Greece with the specialization in molecular biology and biotechnology. My interest in molecular mechanisms in human disease was the reason I continued with a Master's degree in Biomedicine in the university of Maastricht, The Netherlands. During my Master studies I developed an interest in cardiovascular disease cellular and molecular mechanisms. I obtained my PhD on immune responses in cardiovascular diseases in the department of Medicine, at Karolinska Institutet, Sweden.
My research interests include investigation of the molecular mechanisms related to cardiovascular complications of diabetic patients and exploring metabolic processes in Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and diabetes.
In my free time I enjoy doing activities with my daughter, listening to jazz music and baking.
