Eva Hurt-Camejo

Adjuct Professor

I obtained my PhD in Medicine at the Gothenburg University, Sweden in 1992 in the area of proteoglycan interactions of low density lipoprotein with human macrophages and their role in atherosclerosis. From 1996-2000 I have acted as the Director of the Wallenberg Laboratory for Cardiovascular Research, Faculty of Medicine, Gothenburg University. Since 2000, I joined Astra Zeneca as the Director and Scientific Head for Cardiovascular/Metabolic disease area.

I have been affiliated as Adjunct Professor in Biochemical Cardiovascular Research to the Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery (MMK), KI and Translational Vascular Medicine Group since 2019. My long-term position as a Senior Research Lead in Astra Zeneca, Sweden has enabled me to invest my knowledge in clinical development of therapies for treatment of cardiovascular disease, as well as my outstanding international network, to exploring potential of the Translational Vascular Medicine Group under the leadership of Ljubica Matic for clinical and preclinical studies in this competitive research area. My experience and research leadership in both academia and pharmaceutical industry helps the KI group in mentoring, supervision and research guidance. I am also involved as a regular lecturer and practical workshop leader in the Vascular Cell Biology course.

In my spare time I like gardening and travelling.
